Pre and Post Laser Hair Removal Care

To give you the very best service, we need to make sure you know what is involved in the hair removal process. You can print out this list for your own use to make reference to later. You’ll be able to know what to expect during every step of the process. We will also go over all these guidelines with you before we begin the hair removal, ensuring you know what will happen and that you will be comfortable at all times.

Before Treatment Begins;

Before we start laser hair treatment, we ask that you shave the areas you want treated. Some areas may be hard to reach, which is why we will assist you with this manual hair removal before using the laser to destroy the hair follicles.

You will also want to clean the area you wish to be treated, ensuring that all make-up is removed as well as any creams or applications. If you wish, you can remove these applications prior to treatment in our private rooms. We will also provide complimentary antiperspirant after the removal is completed at your request.

What to Expect with Laser Treatments for Acne

The first step to laser acne treatment is scheduling a consultation appointment at a laser acne treatment clinic. There, the doctor will evaluate your skin and acne, coming up with a treatment plan using lasers. Laser treatment can be used anywhere you are prone to acne breakouts; common treatment areas include the face, chest, and back. There are different lasers for different acne types, and the dermatologist will determine which to use on your skin.

Once you’ve scheduled your appointment, limit your sun exposure for best results with the laser. Laser treatments do not work as well on tanned skin. You’ll need to continue avoiding sun exposure until several weeks after your last treatment session. On the morning of your appointment, do not apply lotions or makeup to the area to be treated. The skin must be clean for the lasers to work.

Upon your arrival in the doctor’s office, first a cooling gel will be applied to your skin. This will prevent it from becoming burned. You may also be treated with an anesthetic gel to reduce the pain associated with the procedure. However, laser acne treatment is generally not very painful; many patients describe it as the sensation of a rubber band snapping against the skin.

During the treatment, both you and the doctor will wear goggles to protect your eyes from the laser. The doctor will hold a handheld laser device to your skin. The laser will send pulses of light into your skin, where it kills acne-causing bacteria and shuts down oil production. The entire session will last for less than an hour.

Once the first appointment is over, your skin will be red and a little swollen. This should begin to subside immediately, and it should be completely gone within a few days. Do not irritate the skin by scratching it or scrubbing it. Other than redness and swelling, there are very few side effects or complications with laser acne treatment. Continue to take care of your skin once the treatment is over. Use plenty of sunscreen; recently treated skin is susceptible to sun damage. In addition, your dermatologist may prescribe medications for you to take following the procedure. Be sure to follow your doctor’s instructions carefully with regard to your healing period. You may or may not see immediate results after the first treatment session.

After your skin has healed, you’ll need to decide whether to undergo follow-up sessions. Most patients undergo between three and eight sessions, spaced a few weeks apart. The number of sessions depends on the type and severity of the acne. You can choose to use the same type of laser to target the same acne cause each time, or use several different lasers to target several causes of acne.

How to Remove Pregnancy Stretch Marks?

Yet there are many pregnant women who worry about things that should not really be of any concern. Pregnancy stretch marks is one of such concerns which to be honest is nothing to be worried about at all.

During pregnancy, it is but natural for the mother-to-be to gain weight. Of course since there is actually a human being growing inside of you, your body will have to adjust itself to accommodate the growth of the little bundle of joy. Due to this adjustment, the area around your stomach will continue to increase in size and stretch the skin out as much as possible. Basically the elastic support tissue of your skin is altered by the constant adjustment of your body and this is what causes the stretch marks to appear.

Of course once the little baby is out of your body, things go back to normal but the stretched skin becomes loose and has distinct marks on them which become a cause for concern for many mothers during and after pregnancy. While it is understandable that you would want to get back to your old self as soon as possible after the birth of your child, being worried or obsessed about pregnancy stretch marks is not necessary at all.

Stretch marks can be removed in a variety of ways. First thing of course you need to maintain a healthy diet and also return to exercise as quickly as possible or when your doctor recommends you can work out again. Remember your skin needs to tighten and be healthy in order for it to regain its old glory. That is why a good diet and exercise is so important.

While stretch mark removal treatments or surgeries are usually not required for most women as you can simply use a good stretch mark removal cream along with maintaining a targeted exercise regime, only in rare cases do you have to rely on extensive treatment to get rid of your stretch marks.

Pregnancy stretch mark removal while it can take some time, it can be achieved and all you need to do is exercise regularly or simply be active, use a cream if you wish and of course above all, eat healthy. Whatever you do, do not worry over it as pregnancy as well as the first moments with your child is absolutely a blissful experience, one you should not miss out for anything.

Some Useful Oils in OCM For Dry SKin

I’ve seen a lot of comments over the last few days requesting help with choosing oils for OCM, and since the responses are a bit repetitive, I decided to try to condense all the links and info in one big post!

Recently I’ve been looking into the OCM method for my combination (leaning towards dry) skin. All of these oils, and I don’t know what they do. I did some research and summarized each one.

Here is a quick overview of what i think are the most common/easiest to find oils!

  • ARGAN OIL tissue healing (scars), anti-inflammatory, sun-protective and disinfectant properties; improves skin metabolism, reduce inflammation, and promote moisture retention; soothes skin ailments like acne and dry eczema.
  • MACADAMIA NUT OIL light and not greasy, making it a great oil for the skin; can soften, moisturize and even add a glow to dry or damaged skin
  • AVOCADO OIL soften and revitalize rough, dry, or aging skin; penetrates skin more deeply than most
  • HEMP SEED OIL anti-inflammatory properties; clean and detoxifies skin while evening skin tone; used in cosmetics to make products that remedy skin blotches and legions that occur from dry skin; not heavy oil; found in sunblock
  • KUKUI NUT OIL glowing skin; leaves skin silky and smooth; does not leave skin feeling greasy; protects skin; can leave the driest, dullest, aging skin looking healthy and radiant; works with under eye treatments
  • MEADOWFOAM OIL prevents moisture loss in skin; non-greasy and lightweight
  • PAPAYA SEED OIL firms skin, removes blemishes, and tones skin; velvety properties; moisturizing and water retaining; makes skin soft and supple
  • POMEGRANATE OIL anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, radiant skin; sun care; dry skin, age spots, acne flare ups and scars; smooth, firm skin
  • PUMPKIN SEED OIL safe and effective exfoliator.
  • RED RASPBERRY SEED OIL skin repair and conditioning; anti-inflammatory (greater than Avocado, Grapeseed, Hazelnut, Wheatgerm)
  • RICE BRAN OIL keeps skin smooth; improves blood circulation and leaves a radiant glow; sun block; helps control inflammation and soothes irritable skin; easily blends with other oils and leaves skin velvety smooth
  • SESAME SEED OIL antiviral, anti-inflammatory; natural sunscreen; really good moisturizer; healthy glow
